Application-specific notes for OCI Card
- The OCI photograph is SQUARE and its background must be plain light colour but NOT white, which is unlike most Indian document photographs and easy to get wrong if you reuse one. It is at least 51x51 mm with about 80% face coverage, no border, head and shoulders centred.
- Height and width must be equal, between 200x200 and 900x900 pixels, in JPEG or JPG up to 200 KB. A 35x45 mm passport crop cannot simply be reused: it is the wrong shape and, if it is on white, the wrong background.
- An OCI photograph is uploaded rather than pasted, and the square shape means a standard passport print cannot be trimmed to fit — the head sits proportionally too large once you crop a 35x45mm image into a square. Start from the original photograph and crop square from it instead.
