Application-specific notes for PAN Card
- PAN specifies a scan resolution rather than a pixel canvas: the photograph, signature and supporting documents are all to be scanned at 200 DPI. That is a property of how you digitise the original, so scan at that setting rather than upscaling a smaller file afterwards.
- Online submission through this route depends on holding a valid Digital Signature Certificate issued by an authorised Certifying Authority in India. Without one, the application follows a different path, and no photo preparation changes that.
- A PAN application submitted on paper takes printed photographs affixed to the form rather than an upload, and the two routes are not interchangeable. Decide which you are using before preparing anything: a file scanned at 200 DPI for the online route is not the same artefact as a print you paste on a form.
- 200 DPI is a scanning setting rather than a property you can add afterwards. Scanning the published 3.5 cm-high x 2.5 cm-wide photograph at 200 DPI produces roughly 197 x 276 pixels (width x height); re-tagging a smaller file to 200 DPI leaves it the same file with a different label.

Frequently asked questions
What is the photo size for the PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) application?
The stored PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) target is under 20 KB, around 197×276 px, in JPEG format. This tool resizes and compresses a prepared photo to that target; confirm the active form before submitting.
What is the signature size for PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL)?
The stored signature target is under 10 KB, around 354×157 px, in JPEG format. Follow the current notice's ink and paper instructions, then upload it here to clean and resize it.
How do I resize my photo to under 20 KB for PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL)?
Upload your photo and the tool compresses it to the stored PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) target and applies the recorded dimensions. Everything runs in your browser.
What should I check before submitting PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) files?
Compare the exported photo with the stored under 20 KB photo and under 10 KB signature bands, recorded geometry, recorded formats, then inspect the image for blur and low contrast. Inspect the signature separately for faint strokes and excess paper. Confirm every stored value against the active form; the tool cannot predict acceptance.
Is this PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) resizer free and private?
Yes — free, no watermark, no sign-up, and your photo never leaves your device. All processing happens in your browser.
Where can I confirm the official PAN Card (NSDL / Protean & UTIITSL) requirements?
Always verify the current limits on the official source (Protean (NSDL e-Gov) PAN instructions) before submitting, as requirements can change between notification cycles.
