What the China application actually asks for

• China publishes two RANGES rather than one size: 354 to 420 pixels wide and 472 to 560 pixels high. Reading them as a single pair gives 354 x 420, which is 52 pixels short of the recorded minimum height and outside the range.
• The print is a distinctive 33 x 48 mm rather than the usual 35 x 45, and the digital upload is 3:4 rather than the print's proportion, so the two are genuinely different shapes.
• The Visa Application Service Centre states the printed size and asks for glossy photo paper; the pixel ranges and the 40-120 KB band come from published guides rather than that page, so confirm them on the consulate or COVA portal.
• Both ends of the digital range preserve 3:4 exactly: 354 divided by 472 and 420 divided by 560 each equal 0.75. The 33 x 48 mm print is narrower at 0.6875, so one crop cannot satisfy both by changing resolution alone.
• Converting the 33 x 48 mm print directly at 300 DPI gives about 390 x 567 pixels. Its height exceeds the recorded 560-pixel digital maximum even though its width sits inside the width range, which is why the tool keeps print and upload geometry separate.
• The recorded JPEG band spans 40 to 120 KB. Check all three properties after export — encoded format, dimensions and bytes — because meeting the pixel range does not establish that the file also sits inside the separate size band.
