What the Malaysia application actually asks for

• Malaysia's 35 x 50 mm is unusual — taller than the 35 x 45 mm used almost everywhere else — so a standard passport crop is the wrong proportion and stretching it to fit distorts the face.
• Published guides agree the eVisa upload must be JPEG between roughly 10 and 120 KB, which is a tight band. No Immigration Department page states it, so check the limit shown on the eVisa form itself before submitting.
• The recorded head-height band is 30 to 35 mm inside a 50 mm frame, which works out to 60 to 70 percent. That is a looser crop than the 70 to 80 percent framing recorded for the Schengen presets, so begin again from the original portrait rather than trimming an existing visa crop.
• At a 300 DPI print reference, 35 x 50 mm converts to about 413 x 591 pixels. That calculated pair is useful for printing but is not a published Malaysia eVisa canvas; take any binding pixel requirement from the active malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my field.
• White is the preset background. The record notes that light grey or cream appears in published guides, but no readable Immigration Department page was found to confirm those alternatives. Use the active form and its sample image to settle the shade for the route you are filing.
• The 10 to 120 KB JPEG band also comes from published guides rather than the linked government landing page. The needs-review status is therefore substantive: it tells the reader which figures require an on-screen check instead of presenting every displayed value as first-party verified.
• A 35 x 45 file has a width-to-height ratio of about 0.78; Malaysia's 35 x 50 is 0.70. Resizing one directly to the taller canvas would narrow the face. Crop with added vertical room from the original image and inspect the result without stretching.
