Passport Photo Issue Checker

Review measurable passport- or visa-photo properties before submitting: face detection, horizontal centering, head framing, eye level, tilt, background uniformity and lighting. The result cannot predict an authority's decision.

What this checker can measure

  • • Face detected and clearly visible
  • • Single person in the frame
  • • Head horizontally centred
  • • Head size: 60–80% of photo height
  • • Eyes level (no head tilt)
  • • Eye position in the upper-middle band
  • • Whole head visible (no cropping)
  • • Plain light background
  • • Even lighting, no shadows

What this pre-check can and cannot tell you

The checker measures visible image properties such as face position, approximate head framing, tilt, background uniformity and lighting distribution. Those signals can identify common preparation issues, but they cannot assess identity, document eligibility, recency or every exception in an authority's manual review.

Treat each warning as a reason to inspect the photo, not as a prediction of rejection. A result with no measurable issue still needs to match the current size, format and workflow instructions for the specific application. When a warning is caused by a poor crop, return to the original camera image rather than enlarging a small copy.

  • Retake blur, glare and strong facial shadows instead of editing them heavily.
  • Use the authority's required background, not a generic default.
  • Confirm the current application instructions before submission.
